Here is a little bit about me.
I have been teaching for 19 years. Wow. I have taught second grade for 9 of those. I have also taught fourth, fifth and sixth grade. My BA is in Drama, and my MA is Mathematics Curriculum Design. I received a certificate in a program called Accelerated Reading, a program designed to help students who are below level in reading get to level at the end of the year. I have also had extensive training in Gifted Education.
I live here in the Santa Clarita Valley with my husband, Richard (teacher at Helmer's Elementary), my daughter, Molly (eighth grade), and my son, William (third grade - here at North Park). Other members of the family include a black, "corgie" sized dog, named Llelo and a snake named Rosie.
I love teaching. I love teaching second graders. If you have not yet had a chance to enjoy second graders you will notice their growth is stunning. They are hard working and eager to please. They are fantastic thinkers. I find second graders have big ideas and frankly, rather deep thoughts about the world around them. I hope you all have a wonderful year. I know I will.
